While Officiating at the 2019 National Agriculture Show in Nasinu this morning, Prime Minister- Voreqe Bainimarama says Fijian Products and Produce are seeing a growing demand on Shelves in countries like Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
Bainimarama added they want to put our Farmers in the best possible position to seize on this market opportunity.
This year’s theme is: “Agriculture: Our Hope, Our Future for a Healthy and Wealthy Fiji” encourages farmers to develop further on to commercial agriculture and to view farming as a business.
Bainimarama said the total Crop and Livestock Production has been steadily increasing for the past 3 years and he thanked the hard work of all the farmers despite the challenges.
Bainimarama stated in the latest National Budget the Government has announced a $4. 5 million allocation to under go a nation wide agriculture census. This census will help paint the clearest and comprehensive picture to date of commercial and non-commercial farms across Fiji and as Farmers their participation is very critical.
Displays from 60 Stakeholders included the Animal Health and Production, Stray Dog Awareness, Livestock and Crop management Divisions and other invited Stakeholders.
An Estimated 20,000 people are expected to visit the 3 day Show that ends this Friday.
