Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama opened the inaugural Fijian Government Services Expo in Keiyasi, Navosa yesterday and urged Fijians to take advantage of the opportunities presented.
Representatives of Government ministries, NGOs and statutory agencies are gathered for the two-day exposition to service some 7000 residents of this highland province.
“I urge you to seize on this moment,” the Head of Government said.
“Have you ever wanted to start a business? Now is the time to do it. Have you wanted to further your education? Now is the time to do it. Have you ever wanted to invest in your community’s development? You guessed it – now is the time to do exactly that.”
The Fijian Government continues a massive development of rural Fiji, with a network of telecommunications now extending across 99 per cent of the country, nearly 100 kilometres of new roads in rural communities, the upgrade of another 300 kilometres of rural roads, as well as the expansion of the national electricity grid to tens of thousands of Fijians, a third of whom are enjoying renewable, solar energy.
Residents of 43 Navosa villages were also transported to the expo, where the Prime Minister was joined by Government ministers and Permanent Secretaries
