The President, Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote delivered welcome remarks at the opening reception of the Pacific Women in Power Forum for Women Members of Parliament in the Pacific Region, at Denarau, Nadi.
Also in attendance was Fijian Speaker of the Parliament, Hon. Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, Speaker of the Parliament of Cook Islands, Hon. Nikki Rattle and Samoa’s Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Fiame Naomi Mata’afa.
The two-day forum by UNDP in the Pacific is for Pacific women MPs to network with key stakeholders championing the cause of women’s economic and political empowerment in the Pacific region.
Represented are women MPs from the Parliament of the Republic of Fiji and the Parliaments of the Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Tuvalu.
