The Fijian Government together with the social partners attended the International Labour Organization and Government of South Korea organization workshop on Strategies for Inclusive Growth in the Asia Pacific Region in Bangkok, Thailand last week.
 
The Fijian Government was represented by Director Labour Standard Service, Atish Kumar and Senior Employment Officer, Sainimili Mocevakaca.  The employers’ representative was represented by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Fiji Commerce and Employers’ Federation (FCEF) Nesbitt Hazelman and the workers’ representative was Mr. Agni Deo Singh of the Fiji Trades Union Congress (FTUC).
 
Discussions at the forum focused on the key driving forces shaping the future of work and explored the implication for jobs and skills in the future focusing on the Asia Pacific Region.
 
The Forum also discussed opportunities and challenges of the future of work for women in the Asia Pacific in the Field of TVET and to advance the ideas and solutions to promoting gender equality in the Region.
 
The International Labour Organization also launched a publication on skills and the future of work and strategies for Inclusive Growth in Asia and the Pacific Region which aims to disseminate front line thinking and initiatives in the Region on the subject of skills and the future of work.
 
It also informed the ILO member States of the possible courses of action which they need to prepare to meet future skills challenges.
