The Fijian Government continues to revitalize the rice industry.
Rice is a staple food in Fiji and annually, we import an average of 36,200 tonnes of rice valued at about $37.5 million while only producing about 7,000 tons of rice.
The Ministry of Agriculture has handed over 300 kilograms of seedlings of a new rice variety, Sitara and Cagivou to the Dramasi Rice Farmers Group in Tavua.
Government is looking forward to our enterprising Fijian farmers benefitting from these high yield strains.
