Over 800 Women Rights Activists, Climate Change Advocates and various Women Groups from around the Country gathered for the First -Ever Fiji Women’s Climate Emergency Rally held today at Albert Park.
Minister for Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation-Mereseini Vuniwaqa says the gathering of solidarity is to deliberate, commit and reaffirm our stand against the the devastating impacts of Climate Change and the Ecological Impact to our Nation.
She says in redirecting Development, all Sectors need to be constantly reminded that women are crucial Leaders
It was the coming together for a worthy Cause as women from around Viti Levu to support and raise their voices on the current impacts of Climate Change
Traveling all the way from Ra, Sereana Mavedru and her 11 member Women’s Group were grateful for the opportunity to come to the Rally and be able to share on the serious impacts of Climate Change in their Village.
Pacific Women are at center of the strategies to address climate change, and many are already experiencing loss and damage in their everyday lives, and their communities
Various community climate activists, women with disabilities, women of faith communities and young people also spoke during the event
A video of the Event will be taken by the Rally’s Representatives to the United Nations Climate Urgent Summit in New York in the coming weeks.
