The Fiji Police Force has been allocated a total of $177.8 Million in the 2019-2020 National Budget.
Acting Commissioner of Police – Rusiate Tudravu says their special operations funds they had requested for has now been given to them in support of their war on Drugs.
“What we have prioritized in terms of our projects in the budget have been catered for especially in our prioritized areas, our second phase of reform and restructure in which we will be enlisting 995 special constables into our regular force. So that is part of it and also this special operations funds that we have requested for has now been given to us, this is to support our war on drugs”
Tudravu has assured the members of the public they will utilize their funds and the onus is now on them to deliver.
“Given that we have been given allocated budget especially for special operations so the onus here is for us to deliver because we have the Government’s support in allowing us the budget so we need to deliver from that. I can assure the members of the public that we will utilize the funds well, in order for us to continue with our war against drugs, we would like to eradicate and manage that to the level that is keeping us safe here in Fiji”
