Fiji is participating at the “World Food Programme” executive board meeting – which began this week at the WFP headquarters in Rome.
Fijian Minister for Agriculture – Dr Mahendra Reddy, is leading Fiji’s delegation to the meeting, where he will highlight the importance of food security against a backdrop of growing global challenges, most notably environmental changes, in small island developing states.
Fiji – as an active member of WFP, has been working closely with the organisation, to build resilience and nutrition support for Fijians, especially those living in rural and maritime communities. This includes identifying support, especially during times of natural disasters.
The Minister will use this meeting as an opportunity to update members, of the work undertaken by the Fijian Government, to address poverty and hunger, and how it hopes to work with its development partners, to continue this process.
