A comprehensive team rescue coordination effort was conducted on Thursday afternoon after a boat capsized while on it’s way to Naviti, Yasawa with 9 person onboard including three children.

The Fiji Navy (RCC Fiji) received a call at 1348h after which a helicopter was dispatched to locate the survivors and support rescue efforts by Turtle Island resort punts and volunteers who were conducting surface searches.

The survivors who were clinging on the capsized punt, were rescued by vessels engaged in surface searches.

They were later transported to Turtle Island resort for safety and medical check before returning to their villages.
