Human rights must not be the intellectual chattering of a privileged few but have relevance to the lives of all people in rural and urban area, and every human being with the right to a healthy and sustainable environment.

This was noted by Fiji’s Permanent Representatives to the United Nations, Ambassador Nazhat Shameem Khan, at the opening of the Least Developed Countries / Small Island Developing States Trust Fund regional workshop in Nadi this morning.

Attendants included Coly Seck, who is the first President of the United Nations Human Rights Council to visit Fiji.
