“We have a lot of scope for new inventions in Fiji now and in the future.”
These was shared by the Minister of Education Rosy Akbar while opening the 2019 ROBOCON Domestic Competition held at the International Secondary School in Suva this morning.
Fiji’s first ROBOCON Domestic Competition provided a platform for university students to demonstrate their capabilities and innovation skills.
Akbar says the event will help encourage students to cultivate interest in science and technology that will fill the gab of the industry in the future.
FHL Group CEO and Deputy Chairman of Fiji Television’s Board of Directors Nouzab Fareed says the domestic competition will be held annually with the support from the government and the universities.
The University of the South Pacific won the competition and will be representing Fiji at the International event in Mongolia this August.
The ROBOCON competition is held every year and is organized by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union based in Japan.
The competition brings together University students from over 20 countries in the Asia-Pacific Region.
Fiji will be hosting the 2020 International ROBOCON Competition in Suva.
