After receiving the Match Commissioner and Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) vice president Aiyaz Musa and the referees report from the Vodafone Premier League match between Lautoka and Ba last night, Fiji FA would like to make the following announcements.
Fiji FA is pleased with the efforts of Lautoka Football Association, Fiji FA staff and Lautoka City Council for the manner in which they conducted the Covid-19 prevention protocols.
Fiji FA would also like to thank the Commissioner of Police as the officers from the Lautoka Police Station were in numbers and ensured the crowd control and that the crowd complied with the social distancing measures.
Fiji FA and Lautoka City Council complied with the 50% capacity as a total of 1,700 patrons, players and officials were at the venue, and out of that, about 350 patrons were seated at the embankment which leaves with 1,350 patrons that were seated in the two pavilions which has a total 50% capacity of 1,850.
So we were well below the 50% capacity mark.
Fiji FA had to hold the match for the resumption of second half for about 10 minutes to ensure that people sitting in the bubble were all of the immediate family members and no friends and others have joined in.
We also ensured the CareFiji app was seen by the securities as everybody entered the park.
We thank the patrons for their patients at the gate because all the formalities took a lot of time for them to enter.
In future we will be even very strict with the bubbles to ensure that the people sitting in the bubbles are of immediate family, no friends and not even extended family members.
We would like to thank everybody involved in the whole process including the Fiji Sports Commission chairman, Peter Mazey.
We anticipate that as we go along and educate the people, we should be 100% compliant or even better by the next two to three weeks.
