Fiji is ranked the worlds 16th most at risk country to natural disasters.
This is according to the UN’s world risk index.
New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Fiji, Jonathan Curr revealed this in his speech during the NDMO awareness launch.
He added that because of it’s vulnerability to natural disasters, Fiji has much to gain from increasing awareness and strengthening preparations.
Permanent Secretary for Rural and Maritime Development, Meleti Bainimarama says that people would benefit from such a national event and use it as an opportunity to improve understanding.
