The Fiji Cancer Society is concerned that the COVID-19 may lead to more cases of cancer.

With the restrictions on movement in place for three months, there is a high risk cases will be detected late.

CEO Fiji Cancer Society Belinda Chan says Fiji has one of the highest breast cancer mortality rates in the world due to late detection.

The current global pandemic may possibly result in an increase in the number of cancer patients due to late detection.

“If you sense a change in your body, please visit your nearest medical center and get a checkup done,” says Chan.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Cancer Society has taken their awareness online to reach out to as many as possible.
