Vodafone Fiji football team opened its friendly international against New Caledonia on a high note.
This was the first international match for the National side this season playing at home.
Before the start of the match both teams observed a moment of silence for the victims of the mass shooting at the two mosques in Christchurch last Friday.
Fiji then began the game keeping the possesion and applying pressure on New Caledonia defence.
It took them 37 minutes to find the opener.
Striker Samuela Drudru scored the opening goal with a low drive.
Drudru then increased Fiji’s lead just before half time from a corner kick as the side went into breather with a 2-nil lead.
Rusiate Matirerega scored the third goal for Fiji as they won the match 3-nil.
The win was dedicated to the victims of Christchurch attack.
Fiji will now play Mauritius at 3pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Sunday.
