World Rugby has handed the medals to the teams that finished in top three at the World Sevens Series this season.
Fiji finished in top three in the mens division thus winning the bronze medals.
Due to Covid-19 Pandemic only six tournaments were held this season while the rest had to be cancelled.
The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team have received their bronze medal for finishing third in the 2019/ 2020 World Sevens Series.
The side picked 83 points in the first six legs of the World 7s Series.
Fiji 7s had a slow start to the season but winning a Cup title in Sydney and a final appearance in Los Angeles saw the rise back to the top three.
The Season could however not be concluded due to the COVID-19 pandemic across the World and organizers resolved to cancel the season awarding leaders New Zealand the overall title.
Coach Gareth Baber emphasized on the teams’ Bronze Medal achievement, saying how it puts the team in a position to reflect on what they’ve achieved this season.
Baber knows what needs to be done to reach their goal in the next season.
He says the aim for next season is to better than what they achieved this season.
Only six tournaments were played this season starting with Dubai, Cape Town, Hamilton, Sydney, Los Angeles and Vancouver before the rest of the tournament was halted due to Covid-19 pandemic.
