The Fiji Competition and Consumer Commission will come down hard on retailers that do not adhere to the change in Fuel and LPG Prices.
CEO Joel Abraham says they have come across cases as such in the past year’s and officers will be out on the field in the Central, Western and Northern Division to see that the new prices come into effect.
“I call on Fijian consumers if you’re finding that traders in your area that have not passed this reduction please inform the FCCC and we’ll be happy to go and investigate these complaints.”
“For any information consumers can contact our media officer on 9987783 and then will be able to put forward any complaints or issues that they have and they will be able to assist. Alternatively people can also call 9996759 if you have any issues.”
Abraham has also advised consumers to plan their consumption well.
“We encourage Fijian consumers to realise that Fiji is a price taker. As such fuel prices are volatile so they need to also plan their consumption well and of course the consumption of fossil fuel also has an impact on climate in terms of the usage.
Apart from this we also ensure since there’s a price reduction we understand that whenever there’s a price reduction traders are reluctant to pass down the reduction.”
