The employment survey conducted by the government and other stakeholders to determine the effect of COVID-19 in Fiji’s workplaces ends this week.
The data is critical to ascertain the number of job losses and also for decision making in the next financial budget.
International Labour Organization Director for the Pacific Matin Karimli says the data will assist with policy-making and in economic recovery.
The Nationawide workplace survey was launched last month.
The purpose of the nationwide employment survey is to collect data to assist government in providing the best response to the employment sector.
The survey is in line with the provision of the Employment Relations Act 2007 in obtaining information both from employers and workers in relation to employment.
