The Emerging Leaders Forum Alumni is extremely alarmed and concerned about the continuous human rights violations faced by diverse women and girls in Fiji.
Five women have been brutally murdered by their male partners in just the last few months, with the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre recording 295 cases of domestic violence from January to June this year.
A Fiji Women’s Rights Movement research in 2017 highlighted that 9 in 10 victims and survivors of sexual violence in Fiji are women and girls.

ELFA strongly urges Fijians to stop victim-blaming and holding perpetrators responsible for the criminal act.

We all must take responsibility to promote attitudes that value the lives and experiences of women and girls
