Electricity, A Good Road and a Bigger Dam are some of the issues that the villagers of Wainadiro have raised during the Fiji One News Team’s recent visit during this Pre-Poll week.

It has not been easy for the villagers but they have endured and needs the new Government to adhere to their plea.

Elections officials and the Multinational Observers Party endured the rugged road and terrain to Wainadiro Village to allow them to cast their vote and make a difference.

Situated along the banks of the Navua River, Wainadiro Village catered fro more than 60 voters who cast their votes yesterday with the main aim of having their voices heard.

Akuila Matanivuruna – Wainadiro Village Headman

(Electricity is something we need, we run on generators, our power here in the village is not sourced from FEA. Another concern for the villagers is water, we need to expand our dam as the numbers in the village has increased so as the demand.)

Matanivuruna says that they have had to suffer a lot during bad weather as the roads get really muddy.

(Another major concern is the road. During rainy weather we have had to pull the carriers as they got stuck in the mud. It takes a lot of patience to pull the carrier off the road.)

He adds they have raised their concerns during the Tikina meeting and are still awaiting a response.

(Apart from the need for a good road we also want our community hall to be removed from where it is situated right now and bring it closer to the village. It has been agreed at the Tikina Meeting and we’re still awaiting that to eventuate.)

The Election papers were transferred to Suva last night while the Election Team 7 will today carry out Pre-poll Elections at Waibogi Village also in the Province of Serua.
