There was an unplanned power outage at 3pm yesterday afternoon, which caused a power disruption to Energy Fiji Limited customers in the following areas: Kavika Place, Moli Place, Vudi Street and part of Marou Road from Marou and Vuivui Road junction to Marou and Moli Place junction.

EFL teams established that the underground power cable supplying the subject area had been damaged by contractors engaged by the Water Authority of Fiji while carrying our burst water mains repair works.

The damaged underground cable was isolated and the power supply to some of the affected customers was normalized around 10.30pm on 8th March, 2019 via alternative back-feed.

The rest of the customers will be affected until 8pm tonight, while EFL teams work to repair the damaged cable. Areas affected by this unplanned power outage are Kavika Place and part of Vudi Street.

EFL once again requests members of the public to verify the presence or absence of underground power cables BEFORE carrying out any excavation works.

The EFL sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused to all our valued customers due to this unplanned power outage which was beyond our control.
