The Duchess of Sussex while speaking at the University of the South Pacific made a powerful first speech saying that when girls are given the right tools to succeed, they can create incredible futures, not only for themselves but also for those around them.
She says that everyone should be afforded the opportunity to receive the education they want, but more importantly the education they have the right to receive. And for women and girls in developing countries, this is vital.
The Duchess also announced that a scholarship will be given for a student from the Caribbean in its new “Multi-Disciplinary Masters in Climate Resilience and Mitigation programme” from next year.
The four Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships for Climate Resilience will be offered to young people from the Pacific and the Caribbean from 2019.
