Hon. Minister for Agriculture Hon. Dr. Mahendra Reddy officiated at the launch of the Green Initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and the new look Crop Extension Office.
In his address, Minister Reddy said the dependency on agriculture had increased significantly, highlighting that exports of agricultural products over the first six months of this year had increased too, despite COVID-19.
“The agricultural extension services play a vital role in transforming food systems and making them more sustainable and resilient.”
The motive for this new look agriculture is to serve our clients better, to showcase opportunities in agriculture as well as attract youths and new farmers,” said Hon. Reddy.
The challenge now is “Growing Green Everyday for a Healthier Fiji”.
Minister Reddy and Permanent Secretary for Agriculture Ritesh Dass planted hybrid coconut trees in front of the Agriculture office as part of the launch.
