The newly appointed Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources is the first woman to take up the position of leading the Land’s Department.
Dr Raijeli Taga holds a PhD Degree in Mining Engineering in the Field of Environment Toxicology from the University of Queensland and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Dr. Raijeli Taga has served the country for more than 20 years.
With the new role that she has been appointed to, she hopes to improve the image of the Ministry and ensuring they carry out the work they are tasked with.
Dr. Taga always had a passion for serving the people of Fiji despite given opportunities to work in the private sector.
Working in a man’s field – Dr Taga remains open-minded.
“I have always worked men in this Ministry and I never had problems with them,” Dr Taga said.
The motivated, hard working Dr Taga believes that nothing is impossible and this is her message to aspiring young women.
Dr Taga credits her family for where she is today, although her progression is also the result of sheer perseverance and hard-work.
