America’s first African American female chemical oceanographers Dr. Ashanti Johnson gave a presentation to students and facilitators of the Marine Science Study program at the University of the South Pacific late this afternoon.
The presentation was titled “Strategies for Advancing Geo-science And Marine studies”.
Dr.Johnson emphasized the need for increase participation from diverse representatives at the global decision making ‘table’s in order to address global challenges within the given resources.
She addressed facilitators of USP’s Faculty of Science that there is an opportunity for academics to participate in science that is culturally relevant.
The presentation was a collaboration between the US Embassy in Fiji and the University of the South Pacific.
