The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is currently mourning the Loss of one of Fiji’s finest judges, His Lordship Justice Suresh Chandra, on Friday.
The Director of Public Prosecution, Christopher Pryde said he is deeply saddened to hear about Justice Chandra’s passing – adding that his death is a great loss not just to those who knew him and who worked with, but to the judiciary and to Fiji as a whole.
Pryde said that Justice Chandra will be remembered as a thoughtful, gentle, and considerate man; a judge with high intellectual standards, compassion and commitment, someone who gave so much to his adopted home at a critical period in Fiji’s history.
Justice Chandra held the interests of Fiji and her people dear in his heart.
Ever the gentleman, he was unfailingly courteous to everyone who appeared before him and was always at the ready to assist others; a more humble and sincere man you could not hope to meet.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution says their heartfelt sympathies and thoughts are with his family.
