Digicel Fiji staff hit the road on Sunday in Vanua Levu from Nabouwalu to Seaqaqa and Savusavu to provide assistance through the distribution of relief rations to many of those families affected by category 5 Tropical Cyclone Yasa last week.
Digicel Fiji CEO, Farid Mohammed, said; “An early response is vital to help the affected families in the North to see them get back on their feet in this time of crisis. Our teams moved in quickly to help the most vulnerable in our communities from Sunday and they are still at it today. There has been a huge amount of damage in Vanua Levu. We responded immediately by sending our engineering team with equipment and sales and distribution staff with food rations supplies to the affected areas.”
About 500 relief ration packs were distributed in the villages of Nabouwalu, Nasarawaqa, Dreketi, Nabiti, Wailevu East, Belego, Nadoiviri and Savusavu. All affected areas were also provided with charging stations so villagers could charge their mobile phones and other devices.
Digicel also provided assistance with communications – SIM cards and credit to NDMO, District Office’s, Labasa Hospital and the Police and Military personnel.
“Digicel is proud to be part of a community that is coming together in this time of need to support the relief and rehabilitation efforts in Vanua Levu. Digicel wishes all families a quick and safe recovery,” added Farid.
