The demand for Health Care support for spinal injured and
the physically challenged persons in Fiji continues to grow, both in terms of
the numbers and the quality that our citizens expect.
Viti Spinal Injuries Association of Fiji (VSIAF) is pleased
to announce another of its major community project in the delivery of free
Medical Equipment and accessories to and for the spinal injured and the
physically challenged communities in Fiji.
This is in line with Government’s policy framework for
addressing the needs of disability in Fiji through a more inclusive society,
with greater awareness and direct participation by all stakeholders.
VSIAF distributed free Medical Equipment and Accessories from Australia to assist our less fortunate communities who have reached out to us for assistance, either directly or through medical institutions such as, Nadi Hospital, Lami Health Centre, Balevuto Health Centre (interior of Ba), to name a few.
We are also very pleased to help with the distribution of
Educational items such as Desks & Chairs Books & Stationaries for the
Ba Special School that was burnt down recently.
In addition, the VSIAF will continue assist individuals
directly with the provision of mobility devices and homecare equipment. We
primarily target the rural and disadvantaged communities, especially, where
poverty is common and access to support services and facilities is almost
Since its inception in 2007, the Association has delivered
over 650 equipment and projects that directly assisted over 350 patients and 22
institutions in the Central and Northern Divisions.
Spinal injured and physically challenged persons experience psychological, social and economic challenges everyday – not only for them as patients but also to his or her entire family. And VSIAF are blessed to be part of project that can put some comfort in their lives.
