One of the main challenges faced by Exporters and Logistic companies in Fiji is the standard of hygiene containers have where most products are exported in.
To create awareness on this issue, the first-ever Sea Container Hygiene System workshop was held in Suva today.
The Sea Container Hygiene System aims to implement effective container cleaning processes and prevent re-contamination of cleaned containers.
Fiji Export Council Chairman- Michael Towler says the hygiene issue with containers has been experienced in Fiji has been a big problem for many years particularly with agricultural products going through the strict regime that Australia and New Zealand require for exporters to comply with and we also need to actually look at the quality and cleanliness of the containers we take out of Fiji.
Fiji Export Council-CEO Jone Cavubati says the workshop aims to create awareness on such an issue and bringing in an expert like Dr Gene Browne was an added boost to the session.
The workshop hopes the various stakeholders in attendance will come on board and subscribe to the System. 40 representatives from the Export and 20 Logistic companies were part of the one day event.
