The Nasinu Town Council is urging residents to comply with household, green and solid waste separation and collection dates.
Chairperson of Special Administrators for Nasinu and Nausori Elizabeth Algar stressed that ‘collective action is needed’ to tackle high volumes of waste.
She said the lack of waste separation has slowed current schedules and irresponsible residents will be fined accordingly.
As part of the Council’s waste management strategy, staged pickups have been completed in Caubati, Narere, Makoi, Tuirara, Tovata, Narere Stage 1 and part of Maunikoso Housing.
She is also encouraging residents to practice composting and mulching to reduce the volume of green and kitchen waste.
The Council works closely with the Ministry of Health to drive awareness about the importance of separating waste and preventing health hazards.
Residents can contact the Council for collection schedules, seek advice on removal options and arrange for special pickups.
