Climate change is more than just one of the 17 SDGs, it is a threat multiplier with the potential to worsen some of humanity’s greatest challenges, including health, poverty, and hunger.

These were the sentiments raised by Daniel Montilla Rubiales, Acting Ambassador from Spain to Fiji.

Climate change presents the single biggest threat to development, and its widespread, unprecedented impacts disproportionately burden the poorest and most vulnerable.

“There is a global call for citizen action on climate change, with the Pacific being vulnerable to climate change, suffering more frequent, intense and damaging natural disasters”.

Spain will host the United Nations’ “COP25 Climate Change Summit” in Madrid, following Chile’s withdrawal as host, amid raging street protests in the South American nation.

The Acting Spanish Ambassador says due to the social unrest in the country, the change was important. Climate change is moving faster than we are, and there is no time to waste in the fight against climate change for the Pacific Island nations.
