The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) handed over the Ceremonial Guards role to the Fiji Police Force (FPF) at State House on Saturday, 25 January 2020.
Sergeant (Sgt) Venina Naitagotago Seru from the RFMF led the outgoing guards as they marched from the State House premises to present themselves at the main gate frontage before the handing over ceremony began. In addition to this, the RFMF Band was also present during the event to escort the outgoing RFMF guards.
On the other hand, the incoming Fiji Police guards who will take over duties at the State House marched through the City of Suva starting from the Flea Market, in through Rodwell Road, Scott Street, Victoria Parade and towards the State House main gate along the Queen Elizabeth Drive.
The handing over ceremony was perfectly executed between the two forces as they accomplished accurate foot drills which were witnessed by the public.
The change of guard tradition occurs every month where both guards are thoroughly trained and prepared to shoulder the vital task of maintaining ceremonial guard duties within the Presidential premises.
