A Cargo Agent for RPA Group Limited – was charged for allegedly soliciting a financial advantage, earlier this month.
The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption – charged Jotish Prasad, with one count of ‘Corrupt Transactions with Agents’, under the “Prevention of Bribery Act of 2007”.
He is alleged to have asked for a sum of FJD 500 from Narsey Plastic Ltd – for having waived a 6000 dollar fee, imposed on the missing container seal of the Bio-Security Authority of Fiji, during an inspection.
FICAC Senior State Counsel – Sanjana Datt, informed the court that first phase disclosures were served, and they’ve requested for strict bail conditions.
The offense of ‘Corrupt Transactions with Agents’ – is also known as a private sector corruption offense, and if found guilty – the accused could face up to three years in jail.
The matter was adjourned to the 27th of January 2020.
