Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is concerned with the irresponsible act of some members of the public burning trash under the bridge infrastructure.
These concerns were raised after the burning of household waste and other materials were found under the Draunivi Bridge in Ra.
Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Moore says this is unacceptable as it not only jeopardises public safety, but it also compromises the bridge structure which is associated with costly repairs.
“This is also harmful for the environment causing health hazards for the motorists and the communities and we want the public to please act responsibly and refrain from such acts.”
The FRA is calling the public to be vigilant and report such acts to the Fiji Police Force.
