Fiji’s largest Banking network, Bank of South Pacific (BSP) has upgraded its Visa Debit & Mastercard Credit product through the completion of the rollout of its micro-chip enabled EMV Debit and Credit cards to all its valued customers.

The new cards offer customers additional security that reduces risks from counterfeit, lost and stolen cards. In addition, it provides convenience in the usage of the cards.

BSP Head of
Corporate, Maikash Ali confirmed that this enhancement aligns BSPs service with
global standards where banks are upgrading their Debit & Credit cards to have
a micro-chip embedded on it, which is also known as an EMV card.

“An EMV card
cannot be cloned and misused. These EMV cards store encrypted information on an
embedded secure chip making it virtually impossible to counterfeit.” assured
Mr. Ali.

With the EMV card,
the Bank is also able to improve the consumer experience for its Visa Debit
customers when transacting at a local or overseas EFTPoS terminal[SW2] .

“We are
delighted to deliver the “Touch & Go” functionality enabling speed and
convenience for customers to simply place their BSP Visa Debit or Mastercard on
the screen of a BSP EFTPoS terminal to transact”, he mentioned.

For the first
three “Touch & Go” transactions in a day that are below $50 even the
Personal Identification Number (PIN) will not be required.
