A body has been recovered from the missing helicopter after being washed ashore in the area around Vanuavou in Vanualevu.
This was confirmed by Fiji Navy Commander- Humphrey Tawake.
The Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue Coordination Center Search and Rescue team is focusing all efforts along a stretch of coastline from Korotasere towards Saqani after debris of the helicopter had been spotted .
Commander Tawake says while the debris has been found the exact location has not been confirmed.
Police are working with the Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue Coordination Centre based at the Naval Base.
It is understood three people were on board including a child. The first Search and Rescue flight -departed out of Nadi this morning to initiate aerial search of last known position of overdue aircraft.
A call was received by the Divisional Police North that a helicopter bound for the Labasa Hospital from Naituba island was overdue last night.
The search continues for the rest on board.
