The Boxing Commission
of Fiji has received queries about Fiji hosting world title fights.
Boxing Commission of
Fiji Chairman Subhash Appana says the possibility of that happening is a ‘Pie
in the Sky’ kind of dream, as the level of boxing in the country is still a
long way from that.
Appana says Fiji can
have versions of International Titles, but not World Title Fights.
Meanwhile, with their
current tight budget, the Fiji Boxing Commission is working on putting in place
a strategic plan, that will show where they want to be over a period of time,
along with funding requirements.
The Commission plans to organise some training programmes, buy new equipment and work on a plan for Government to consider as it works on putting together the National Budget.
