The most successful side in the competition and the traditional giants of Fiji football, Ba FC can be once tagged as favorites for the 2020 Courts Inter District Championship in Suva.
The inform Men-in-Black with some experience and youth players will be out prove critics wrong at this year’s Courts IDC.
Once known as the undisputed champions of Fiji Football, the Ba side has once again regrouped after bowing out of the semi-finals of the 2020 Punjas BOG against Rewa in penalty kicks and will be fueling with confidence heading into the IDC.
The Roneel Kumar coached side has lifted the IDC trophy for the most time since its start in 1938. They have won the title 24 times and this is the year they will be aiming to break their five-year drought with the ambition to clinch the 82nd edition of the tournament.
They last won the IDC title in 2007 at ANZ Stadium in Suva and 2015 was their last title win when they defeated Nadi 2-0 at home.
The 2020 Courts IDC campaign will require them to be dominant in their pool matches, something they have not done in recent tournaments.
With the present fierce level of competition, they do not have a safe passage to the finals and will need to set the record straight from the opening whistle of their matches.
They will come out with wounded pride and the fans can look forward to a new intensity in their games with young talents such as Kalaveti Sivoi, Shiveenl Singh, Samuela Navoce, Peceli Sukabula, Junior Singh and Isikeli Sevanaia to name a few with the experience of Samuela Drudru, Savenaca Nakalevu, Abbu Zaid, Malakai Tiwa, Senaila Waqanicakau and Solomon Islander Darold Kakasi.
The Men-in –Black start their campaign against Nadi at 4.30 pm on Tuesday, October 6 and faces minnows Navua on the second day on Wednesday, October 7 at 1 pm. Their final pool match will be against Labasa on Thursday at 7 pm.
