The Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women Senator Marise Payne is in the country for bilateral meetings.
Payne will meet with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama. She will also meet with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security, Inia Seruiratu and other Ministers.
The visit recognizes the renewed commitment of the two nations to strengthen the ‘Fiji‑Australia Vuvale Partnership,’ which was declared during the historic visit by the Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in January this year. The two governments are currently working on finalizing the Vuvale Partnership Agreement.
Australia is one of Fiji’s largest trade and investment partners and the two nations work together closely as fellow members of multilateral and regional forums, such as the United Nations, World Trade Organization, Commonwealth and Pacific Islands Forum.
