The Fijian Government has signaled its very strong support for its national university and expressed a clear expectation for it to be transformed into a premier institution.

The Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts-Rosy Akbar highlighted this during her address at the visit of Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs- Marise Payne, to the Fiji National University, Nasinu Campus yesterday.

Akbar says this makes every Fijian proud of their university, and one that is closely linked into Fiji’s own very ambitious development plans and strategies.

She added Australia and Fiji enjoy a close and long relationship, reinforced at the beginning of 2019 by the signing of the new ‘Vuvale Partnership’ by our respective Prime Ministers.

Also present at the event were the Attorney-General- Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and the Permanent Secretary for Education Alison Burchell.
