A high-powered defence delegation from Australia arrived in the country yesterday for a one-day visit.

For the first time, traveling together to Fiji for meetings with their Fijian counterparts are Australian Chief of the Defence Forces-General Angus Campbell, Australian Federal Police Commissioner-Andrew Colvin, Deputy Director-General of the Australian Security Intelligence Organization Peter Vickery and Australian Border Force Commissioner Michael Otram.

Minister for Defence and National Security- Inia Seruiratu confirmed that the visit was part of the agreement between Fiji and Australia, looking not only at local security issues, but regional issues as well.

The defence heads have been traveling around the region and were in Tonga before they arrived in Fiji yesterday and departed for the Solomon Islands after their day-long visit.
