Fiji’s 5-Year and 20-Year National Development Plan outlines improvements in literacy and numeracy learning outcomes as a key priority for Fiji.

To help achieve this goal, the Australian High Commission in partnership with the government handed 110 sets of kits to the University of the South Pacific.

The kit worth 765 thousand dollars is for Years 1 to 4 students and for training institutions.

The kit has been distributed to 91 primary schools and five teacher training institutions.

Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of education says the ministry is planning to keep education modern with new resources and by introducing a new curriculum.

The University of the South Pacific Vice Chancellor adds improving learning outcomes in schools positions a broader impact not only in Fiji but in the region.

Professor Pal says the support and resources will help the teachers by making their work easy.
