“ASK not what Fiji can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

This was the message- echoing the words of the late United States President, John F. Kennedy, but in the Fijian context- from young Fijians who were part of the oratory contest at Vashist Muni Memorial Primary, the centre for Fiji Day celebrations in the Central Division, as close to 200 people from the Serua and Namosi Province turned up despite the adverse weather.

Acting Divisional Commissioner Central, Anare Leweniqila said the theme for this year’s celebration of “Progressing Together Leaving No Fijian Behind” resonates well with the Government’s intention of ensuring that all Fijians are equally involved in benefiting in the development of the nation.

Fijians, from as young as toddlers to the elderly, turned up in blue holding the Fiji flag and enjoyed an array of performances including meke performed by the children Nakavu village in Namosi.
