The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Ark Peace Hospital Ship Naval ship today (2nd August 2018) arrived at the Kings Warf in Suva. Welcoming her arrival today was Brigadier-General Apakuki Kurusiga, personnels from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and government departments.
Also present at the welcoming event was members of the Chinese Diplomatic corp and community in Fiji.
Brig-Gen Kurusiga was introduced to staffs of the Ark Peace and was shown around the Naval hospital ship.
This is the second time after four years for the Navy ship to visit our shores and will conduct a week of free medical check-ups.
The four thousand square meters hospital with 8 stories is composed with several departments and has 8 operating rooms, two of which reach cleanliness for level 2 and the rest are level 3.
The Ark peace plans to visit over 10 countries in the Oceanic and the Americas offering humanitarian assistance and will also be conducting exchange and cooperation with Defense forces of these countries.
The ship is commanded by Rear Admiral Guan Bailin the Deputy Chief of Staff of East Sea Fleet of the Chinese PLA Navy and Rear-Admiral Qin Wei, Deputy Director of the Political Work Department of East Fleet of Chinese PLA Navy.
Representatives of the Ark Peace will later on be hosted to a cocktail party at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua later this afternoon.
