Airports Fiji limited who are managing Fiji’s international airports says it’s open to working through issues with traffic control officers.
It comes amid local reports that around 80 per cent of controllers are taking some form of leave in protest over pay and working conditions.
Airports Fiji, which manages the airports in Nadi and Nausori, has declined to comment on specific issues.
But in a statement, its executive chairman, Faiz Khan, says the company has held meetings with controllers and looks forward to further discussions.
This week the leader of The National Federation Party, Biman Prasad, says that safety at the airports had been “seriously compromised.”
Nadi International Airport welcomes more than 1.2 million international passengers and over 450,000 domestic passengers through its airports annually.
