Provincial administrators, district officers and Roko Tui’s from the Central and Eastern divisions have undergone a familiarisation training on the recently announced Government initiative to assist micro, small and medium enterprise sectors.
Organized by the office of the Commissioner Central division, the one-day training was conducted by Ministry of Commerce and Trade’s Director for Integrated Human Resource Development Program Iosefo Koroidimuri.
Government recently announced three concessional packages to assist MSMEs as the economic downturn posed by the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect many businesses in the country.
They are the COVID-19 concessional loan facility for new and existing micro enterprises, COVID-19 concessional loan facility for existing small enterprises and COVID-19 concessional loan facility for existing medium sized enterprises.
Applications for these loans have opened this week.
Commissioner Central Josefa Navuku said the workshop will help prepare them for enquiries from interested members of the public.
Navuku says the initiative together with the entrepreneurial funding programs at MSME Fiji has the potential to reboot Fiji’s economy if managed with prudent business controls.
While addressing the participants at the workshop, Koroidimuri reminded PAs, DOs, Assistant DOs and Roko Tui representatives attending the training that M-SMEs are engines of economic growth that can be taken out also to the provinces and divisions.
