More than 600 plants believed to be marijuana were uprooted from a farm in Navosa yesterday.

Police conducted raids at Vatubalavu in Navosa following a tip off from concerned citizens.

Investigators are following leads on the owner of the farm as the investigation continues and more seizures are expected.

Divisional Police Commander, West (DPC/W) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surend Sami commended officers from Sigatoka  for their dedication and hard work  spending long hours in the interior of Navosa trying to locate the said farm.

Meanwhile a couple are in Police Custody at Namaka Police Station after being found in possession of white substance believed to be illicit drugs.

The two were stopped at a Checkpoint in Namaka  on Monday night (06th January, 2020) and their vehicle was searched.

The Police K-9 Unit was also at the scene assisting the roadblock team  sniffed out the drugs that were well hidden inside the  vehicle.

Police will continue to be on full alert as it tries to crack down on drugs.

“We are still on alert as we try and eradicate drugs from our streets.  We will come down hard on anyone found with drugs and all the people involved,” said SSP Sami.

Information from members of the public continues to be received on the alleged involvement of drug cultivators and we are grateful for the continuous support .
