Police officers are assisting the nationwide ‘Fight The Bite’ clean up campaign to combat the potential outbreak of leptospirosis, typhoid, dengue and diarrhoea.
Officers teamed up with other government and statutory body officials to contribute to the ongoing efforts towards containing the spread of disease.
Fiji has recorded seven deaths from leptospirosis this year.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said around 800 cases of dengue has also been recorded this year.
The spike is due to the number of tropical cyclones and flooding recorded in the past four months.
