National Fire Authority attended to a fire emergency call in Sarava, Ba yesterday afternoon that destroyed a three-bedroom home, resulting in a 55-year old fire victim.
At 1.50 pm, the Ba Fire Station was alerted of the house fire and responded immediately.
Upon arrival at the scene, the fire team found a three-bedroom corrugated iron house fully engulfed in flames. The fire crew quickly used deliveries of water from the fire trucks to quickly extinguish the fire and stopping its spread to nearby houses.
The fire crew managed to extinguish and control the fire but it was very unfortunate that the body of a woman was found at the scene, believed to be one of the occupants of the house. It is understood that the deceased was bed-ridden and alone at home when the fire started, whilst her husband and son were away.
NFA is very saddened by the loss of a life in the fire and sympathizes with the family on their loss.
