School prefects are in a privileged position to be mentors to the younger students and good leaders are peace makers and good learners.
Former student and Deputy Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu made this comment in his address as chief guest at the Nasinu Secondary School prefect’s induction ceremony.
80 students were badged prefects and house captains of this school.
During this special occasion at the Kinoya Methodist Church DCP Tudravu called on the school leaders to wear their badges with pride and to live up to the responsibilities bestowed upon them.
“The position is not given to everyone but just the few of you. The teachers have seen the merits in your character and that’s why they have selected you and also remember do not forget to put God first in everything you do’’
He reminded the students they would face many challenges as prefects but they must remember that it was part of being a leader.
He also advised them on the need to respect their parents and guardians as they are their God in this world.
The ceremony was witnessed by students, parents and guardians, friends and school teachers at the school.
Rupeni Mateitoga from Mavana Vanuabalavu in Lau was inducted as head boy and Litiana Vunibola was badged as head girl for the 2020 academic year.
Joeli Mateka ,Eroni Delai and Epi Baleisawani were badged deputy head boys while Melaia Vakayavudali ,Lusia Rova and Weka Ssanicagi as deputy head girls.
DCP Tudravu badged the head prefects and their deputies while the remaining school prefects were badged by their parents and guardians.
